Opening CLEARINGS - Michel Comte & Yuichi Kodai - Wasserkirche Zürich & Finissage ART FLOW

Opening CLEARINGS” – a project by Michel Comte & Yuichi Kodai
& Finissage ART FLOW

Wasserkirche, Limmatquai 31, Zurich

Friday, 12 December 2025, from 6 pm

At the Wasserkirche in Zurich, internationally acclaimed multimedia artist Michel Comte presents his installation CLEARINGS, created in collaboration with Japanese architect Yuichi Kodai – marking the final chapter of the three-year art project ART FLOW.

Created in 2024 for ART FLOW, CLEARINGS was first realised as a site-specific land-art installation in the forest of Dietikon. Inspired by the motto of the local forest corporation – Schöner Wald in treuer Hand labt das Aug’ und schirmt das Land” (“A beautiful forest in faithful hands delights the eye and protects the land”) – Comte explored the natural cycles of becoming, being and decay.

After a year in the forest, CLEARINGS now takes on a new form. A central element – a twelve-metre tree trunk sheathed in copper – is transported to Zurich and presented in the Wasserkirche over the Christmas period. The installation moves from nature to the sacred realm, transforming into a contemplative reflection on space, material and renewal.

With this presentation, ART FLOW celebrates both the vernissage and its finissage: after three years and more than two dozen site-specific artworks across the Limmattal region, the project reaches its conclusion in the Wasserkirche.

🕒 Opening hours: 13 December 20254 January 2026, daily except Monday, 25 pm (closed 24 / 25 December)
