With ZACK, Beat Zoderer realises the final project of ART FLOW. At the symbolic centre of the Limmat Valley stands an approximately eight-metre-high sculpture made of painted steel.

Located in close proximity to the railway line, motorway and the river Limmat, the sculpture becomes a new visual landmark in the valley – a striking exclamation mark in the landscape, visible to everyone passing through the Limmat Valley.

ZACK brings together movement and stability, everyday life and meaning. Its shimmering orange form appears like a frozen moment, opening space for multiple interpretations.

As a permanent installation, the sculpture also marks the conclusion of ART FLOW. After several years of temporary artistic interventions in public space, ZACK leaves a lasting sign in the Limmat Valley.

The more than eight-metre-high steel sculpture was realised in collaboration with structural engineer Andreas Galmarini, ROK Architekten, and Jörimann Stahl AG.

The artist Beat Zoderer (*1955), who lives in Wettingen, is considered one of the most important Swiss artists of his generation. His work is based on the principle of bi” – an exploration of ambivalences between art and everyday life, system and chance, economy and excess.

Zoderer’s works have been exhibited internationally, including at Museum Voorlinden (Wassenaar), Neues Museum Nürnberg, Mies van der Rohe Haus (Berlin), Borusan Contemporary (Istanbul), Haus Konstruktiv (Zurich), Watari-um (Tokyo), as well as Kunsthalle Basel and Kunstmuseum Bonn.
