Ishita Chakraborty –
«The River Flows In Our Veins»

August 14th – 31st December, 2025

The River Flows In Our Veins marks the 22nd project of the growing public art exhibition ART FLOW – Art in the Limmattal.

Postcolonial trauma and both cultural and economic migration – including her own – form the artistic research field of Ishita Chakraborty (*1989), who was born in India and has lived in the canton of Aargau for many years. She was recently awarded the prestigious Manor Art Prize and is currently exhibiting her works at the Aargauer Kunsthaus.

For ART FLOW, Chakraborty addresses a theme that is particularly present in the Limmattal and the Baden region: the overlay and entanglement of natural and linguistic realities.

Inside the historic wooden bridge connecting Turgi and Ennetturgi (Untersiggenthal), the artist has created a poetic, three-part light installation.
«The River Flows In Our Veins»
is composed of multi-coloured fake neon and reflects on the linguistic diversity of the nationalities living in the Limmattal, the poetry of diversity, and the richness of migration.
