Lou Masduraud - Milky Way

French artist Lou Mas­du­raud (*1990) pres­ents her new work «Milky Way»: around 30 small bronze stars will be instal­led in public spaces near local muse­ums bet­ween Zurich and Baden.

Mas­du­raud explo­res social norms and invi­si­ble struc­tures that often go unques­tio­ned. For ART FLOW, she has crea­ted an instal­la­tion that stret­ches across the valley and invi­tes view­ers to see the land­scape and public space with fresh eyes.

The bronze stars directly refe­rence the title «Milky Way». They serve as an artis­tic response to the dis­creet metal mar­kers embedded in the ground that define ter­ri­to­rial boun­da­ries. Ins­tead of these offi­cial signs, Mas­du­raud offers poetic coun­ter­points — stars that subtly res­hape how we navi­gate and expe­ri­ence the space.

The stars are placed near local muse­ums in the valley — insti­tu­ti­ons dedi­ca­ted to pre­ser­ving regio­nal history and sto­rytel­ling. The result is a con­stel­la­tion of art, memory and place that encou­ra­ges dis­co­very and reflec­tion.
