Kelly Tissot – ​“Lico­rice Harm­ony”

In her artis­tic prac­tice, Kelly Tissot (*1995, FRA) explo­res the trans­for­ma­tion of land­scapes – shaped by eco­no­mic, eco­lo­gi­cal, and poli­ti­cal pro­ces­ses. She also reflects on the ever-evol­ving images we con­s­truct of nature and land­scape.

In late summer 2024, Tissot con­duc­ted an artis­tic field study in the Limmat Valley. She visi­ted some of the region’s last remai­ning working farms and used her camera to docu­ment places situa­ted at the inter­sec­tion of nature and human use. The result is a series of ana­lo­gue black-and-white pho­to­graphs that illu­mi­nate the ten­sion bet­ween cul­ti­va­ted land­scape and aes­the­tic per­cep­tion. The work group Lico­rice Harm­ony has been view in an emp­tied barn at Klos­ter Fahr.

In these images, Tissot reve­als the fra­gile beauty of places where human acti­vity and the natu­ral world clo­sely con­verge – poetic, pre­cise, and con­tem­pla­tive

Thanks to the col­la­bo­ra­tion with Fahr Erleb­nis, the pro­ject has been embedded directly within the monas­tery’s working agri­cul­tu­ral envi­ron­ment – crea­ting an imme­diate and tan­gi­ble con­nec­tion bet­ween art, daily life, and agra­rian cul­ture.

In ihrer künst­le­ri­schen Arbeit beschäf­tigt sich Kelly Tissot (*1995, FRA) mit der Trans­for­ma­tion von Land­schaft – beein­flusst durch wirt­schaft­li­che, öko­lo­gi­sche und poli­ti­sche Pro­zesse. Ebenso reflek­tiert sie die sich stän­dig erneu­ern­den Bilder, die wir uns von Natur und Land­schaft machen.

Im Spät­som­mer 2024 führte Tissot eine künst­le­ri­sche Feld­stu­die im Lim­mat­tal durch. Sie besuchte einige der letz­ten noch exis­tie­ren­den Bau­ern­höfe der Region und doku­men­tierte mit ihrer Kamera Orte an der Schnitt­stelle von Natur und Nut­zung. Ent­stan­den ist eine Serie ana­lo­ger Schwarz­weiss-Foto­gra­fien, die das Span­nungs­feld zwi­schen land­schaft­li­cher Bewirt­schaf­tung und ästhe­ti­scher Codie­rung sicht­bar machen. Die Werk­gruppe «Lico­rice Harm­ony» (dt. Süss­holz-Har­mo­nie) wurde in einer leer­ge­räum­ten Scheune des Klos­ters Fahr prä­sen­tiert.

Tissot macht darin die fra­gile Schön­heit jener Orte sicht­bar, an denen Mensch und Natur unmit­tel­bar auf­ein­an­der­tref­fen – poe­tisch, prä­zise und nach­denk­lich.

Dank der Zusam­men­ar­beit mit der Fahr Erleb­nis AG wurde das Pro­jekt direkt in den land­wirt­schaft­li­chen Betrieb des Klos­ters ein­ge­bet­tet – und macht so den Aus­tausch zwi­schen Kunst, Alltag und Agrar­kul­tur unmit­tel­bar erleb­bar.
