Ester Vonplon

Ester Vonplon (b. 1980) is one of the most important Swiss representatives of socially committed artistic photography. Vonplon, who grew up in Bergdietikon, draws inspiration from her engagement with landscapes and the natural elements of the respective topographies. Precise framing and a seemingly sculptural language of forms characterise her expressive works, which tell of beauty and transience in equal measure. Vonplon’s images make us aware of the fragility of the pristine. In the context of ART FLOW, this artist has commenced wide-ranging research on the state of nature in the Limmat Valley. Her pictures showing pockets of landscape, be they almost untouched or restored, raise fundamental questions about how our civilisation deals with nature.
